Essential aka emergency water heater replacement done the other day on Skelp Mountain Rd.

CARRIER NOT HONORING 10 YEAR WARRANTIES... this is from a thread on an HVAC site. Has anybody else had problems with Carrier honoring factory warranties last year? We had a customer we installed a Carrier R-22 system for 8 years ago, and the compressor gave out. Customer had the 10 year parts warranty certificate, and we also had it on record, since we registered the system when we installed it. The Carrier distributor refused to honor their warranty, and told us that th...ey no longer gave warranties to R-22 equipment. In our case, they applied it retroactively to systems which were installed AND REGISTERED. I went over the distributor's heads and called New York, which told me the same thing. We ended up replacing the unit (Not with any Carrier product either), and changed the expansion valve, and ate the whole job for our customer, since it is our policy to live up to what we promise. This really pissed me off. We had a meeting about it and decided that it would be a cold day in hell before we ever purchase or recommend to a customer any Carrier product. Bottom line is that Carrier made a promise to a customer (in writing) that they didn't keep, and to me, that is crooked. This happened about 4 months ago, and I am still steamed over it. See more
