Blessed are those who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness Matt 5: 6 - Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Hunger is a simple feeling. Stomach empty? Hungry. Haven’t eaten? Hungry. There is no one alive who doesn’t understand hunger to some degree. Perhaps at this time of year with Thanksgiving behind us, Christmas last week, and New Years Eve tomorrow hunger isn’t at the forefront of our minds but it doesn’t take long to r...emember a time when we were famished. Now, replace food with righteousness. Do we have the same hunger for righteousness? Is that a priority? Beyond priority, is it something that you hunger and thirst for to have? For the human body, food and water is a necessity. For a new creation in Christ, the need for righteousness should be the same. To be righteous is to be like God. The opposite is sinful, it’s selfishness. You may want it...but do you hunger and thirst for it? I hope and pray that you do, for you will be filled!!! How great of a promise! Whenever I see a promise from God I like to imagine if it wasn’t promised or if the opposite were true. If you hunger and thirst for righteousness...tough luck, pound salt, it is unattainable and you will be held accountable for it. THAT would be terrible news. Yet, the promise is there and He will fill us with HIS righteousness. In Luke 1 Mary sings the praises of God and proclaims, He has filled the hungry with good things We have a God that is just wanting and waiting to bless us with good things. God is faithful and just in keeping His word. Phil 4:19 says, My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Many will make resolutions for the coming year. Many others will refocus their lives and goals to be better. Hopefully, we will all include the desire and yes, even hunger for righteousness at the very top of the list. Many a new year's resolution will fall short but God’s promise to fill us with His righteousness will never fail.

Each week I (Jay) will be posting a "Mid-week" message complementing the Sunday message on the Beatitudes. The Sunday messages are more focused on the "Blessed are those who are." Christmas Angel Trees!!! This year we will be having TWO angel trees to bless those in need. One tree will be for seniors at Seneca Manor and the other for young people in need. During both services and anytime the church is open (office hours/bible studies etc) you can grab a name, replace it with an ornament (provided or you can bring one), and you can start shopping! We are also having a food drive to bless the families that are receiving the gifts so you can also drop ...off high quality non-perishables (don't give what you wouldn't want) or supermarket gift cards. To summarize here are items that we need: Gift items listed on the tag for each recipient - return the angel tag too Wrapping paper, name tags, and tape to give families to use $25 gift cards for Shop N Save or Giant Eagle (need 30 cards total) High quality non perishable food Gift bags, tissue paper, or wrapping paper for our Seneca Manor gifts Here is how you can help: Decorate the church on Saturday, November 14th from 12 - 4. Assist with collecting gifts as they come in On December 12th organize the gifts 12:30- 3:00 p.m. (If we need to add extra days we will) December 18th and 19th schedule people to be at church for families to come and get their boxes. On the 18th maybe the hours of 5:00-8:00 p.m. and the 19th the hours of 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. If we need to deliver any boxes we will work this out. This Saturday, December 12th, we are going to be assembling the Angel Tree packages/gifts. We will be meeting at 12:30pm in the NEWLY PAINTED Fellowship Hall. How can you help? 1. Drop off medium to large boxes that we can use to put the food and packages together for the families. 2. Stay and be a part of putting these packages of blessings together!!! 3. Mitlo Family Update: Yesterday's post was, as it turns out, not entirely accurate. Joe found out today that he tested positive from his weekly work test (even though he hasn't been working). This is really frustrating for us as he has had zero symptoms. Beyond that, Rachel lost her ability to taste and smell last Saturday and yet tested negative twice this week (and two times the week before). We are certainly frustrated at having to quarantine more but understand that we've had, and others have, it much worse. Again, we are all healthy for the most part and are committed to doing what's right. That being said, we are again cancelling the 9am service tomorrow. The 11am service will go on as usual. Make sure that you continue to support the Angel Tree program and help with the food drive as well. We love you all.

Until further notice, the 9am will meet in the Sanctuary rather than the Gathering Place. This will give us more room to spread out. Stop in the GP to grab your coffee on the way in. The 11am will remain the same and will be streamed as well! Again, our hearts desire is to give you every opportunity to worship in the way you best see fit.
