Reason # too-many-to-count why I sometimes really miss the old days - you know, the days when folks could walk in to the shop and we had a full pastry case of get-what-you-want-on-a-whim baked goodies, and when I had the raddest little staff of Factory Girls here to help yeah. Those days. Anyways, CAKE TACOs is the reason I’m missing all that today!! Now what do I do with all of these cake scraps?!!?? I eat them. Oh my goodness. It used to be, I made cake tacos with them, a...nd the best times were when someone was in the shop, chatting with Thérèse or MK or Michaela or Kelly, or Jess, or Erin or Rachel, and I was in the back finishing cakes and I’d walk out and present said lucky person with a cake taco and it made us all so happy to share the joy and the deliciousness. Or, I could at least send them home with the FactoryGirls for their families/loved-ones. Now, sigh, so many of them just get dumped in the trash. Sooo sad. Well, if you’re still reading, and you’re local, and you’re up for a treasure hunt that you may or may not be the first to find, I left a cake taco in a bag in the old-fashioned milk-delivery box that’s on the side steps of the bakery. Scones today are lemon+lavender (using fresh from-scratch lemon curd, one of the best things I know how to make), and chocolate chunk. Surely I’m not the only one craving flowers in January? Inspired yesterday by three things: citrus season, a photo my American-living-in-Paris friend Jill posted, and a photo I came across the other day of flowers grown in the bakery garden this past summer. I felt the need to make a big batch of bouquet cupcakes, and so I did. :) And now they’re all ready for you! No Sunday BunDay this weekend, as I’m taking a much-needed little post-holiday rest tomorrow. :) You all made the holidays so merry and bright and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making FactoryGirl sweets a part of your celebrations! Literally hundreds of cakes and cream puffs and cinnamon buns went out this door the last couple of weeks, it was amazing! Tomorrow and this week I’ll be dreaming and scheming and planning and organizing for all the sweetness that we’ll make together this year. Cheers to you all and happy new year!

Merry merry merry Christmas Eve, friends! To all who ordered and picked up this morning, thank you for letting me be a part of your holiday celebration!
