For those who celebrate Passover, have you ever tried to make your own matzo? I started doing this a few years ago and now do it with a friend. This will change your week! Note: If you keep strictly kosher-for-Passover, this may not work for you. http://mobile.nytimes.com//why-is-this-matzo-different-fro Message me if you'd like my recipe.

Spice up your Oscar nibbles - a drizzle of pomegranate molasses on shrimp avo tostadas. Slightly sweet, a little tangy - perfectly unexpected and delicious!

Not that I've put any thought into this ... My 17 year old son can regularly inhale at least one-half of a large cheese pizza. While he is naturally very thin, we all could use regular reminders about our long-term health and the nutritional ("good energy") value of what we choose to put into our bodies. This article hints at why more pizza doesn't fill the void he's feeling. I remind him (ahem, all the time) to reach for another food/food group and not just more of the sam...e emptiness. Our bodies and brains are SCREAMING at us for diversity in our diet. We just need to be open to listening and responding. How to do it? Whole wheat broccoli pizza is probably not the solution. Let's face it - we want our pizza to taste like amazing pizza! How about an apple or orange after the first slice? Is it too uncool to ask for a little bowl of broccoli florets and red pepper slices, that the pizza join may have in stock for their iceberg salads? Yes, I am the uncool mom who sends my kids with the bag of clementines on a weekend car trip or school sporting event. Something fresh and colorful to complement the often unavoidable, inexpensive and convenient empty carbs that fill our nation's highways and strip malls. There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution that will always work all the time. I often order soup when we go out for pizza because I sure am not filled by a slice (or two). I have a feeling I'm in the minority because the soup is rarely hot before the pizza is devoured. The warm soup does just enough to fill that little empty space that remains. Hey there Cake Bakers! When making a layer cake, I struggle to cut the cakes into even layers. I've got two gorgeous round cakes and hope to celebrate the bday tonight with a balanced, four-layer cake. Would a brief chill help before slicing the cakes in half, to firm up the centers?
We were looking to establish a New Year's Day family food tradition for omnivorous and vegetarians alike. Many cultures eat round foods. We think we got it!
Is it just me or is anyone craving a Dark, Dark Chocolate Tart for NYE?
