Awesome day with the boys today! 1st Annual Truck 16 day on the Bay

ENGINE 6 / LADDER 16 PHILADELPHIA FIRE DEPARTMENT 11.11.2020

I have not been on this page to update anything for quite some time and I do apologize for that but life has been hectic and even more so now. I’ll try to get back on this page and answer any questions. Sorry I have not been able to deliver any items requested. This past August we had our annual PFD Weekend at the shore and although it was not the usual gathering it was still a huge success with a party on the beach and a really nice time at Seaport Pier in North Wildwood NJ.... Seaport Pier treated us like VIP’s ( as usual) with tables reserved in the front row for a performance by Big Romeo . The PFD Weekend at the shore benefits @Philadelphia Firefighters and Paramedics Union Local #22 Widows Fund. The beach party has a solemn memorial service for those Brothers who have passed during the last year. Two great guys from Engine 6/ Ladder 16 names were in the banner, Firefighters Emil Muller and Firefighter Joseph Smolczynski, both of whom I had the pleasure to work with. Joe was our platoon leader and took me and some new guys in and taught us everything we needed to know to do the job right and to survive after we completed our Fire Academy training. Joe was the 1st Firefighter to greet me when I walked in the door on my 1st day and it’s a memory and a friendship I will never forget. Joe was a Giant among men, that’s for sure and we would all take a step back and watch him attack a fire ferociously and successfully, that was his style. Firefighter Emil Mueller came from Engine 25 which is in our local area and he brought with him a mild mannered demeanor and a wrath of knowledge in firefighter and a few other things. Emil was always busy 24/7 fixing, painting and cleaning things 24/7 and in fact I hardly ever saw him sitting it or resting, maybe sit at the watch desk to listen for any calls coming in but that’s it. Here is a pic of the banner that was displayed at our ceremony with 50+ names of those we last from 7/2019-7/2020z See more

Saturday Dec.14th The Annual Christmas Luncheon was another knock out, awesome event. Us Dinosaurs May appear disheveled and grumpy but Youse Young Guys warmed our hearts and made us smile and allowed us to share some stories and laugh once again. The food was outstanding as always and I was hesitant but just had to take home a piece of Ricotta Cake made by Anthony Dello Russo mom, made me cry it was so good. Thanks to all who put this together and for those who showed up for a great tradition. Frank Mil Pat Mullen Jerry PetersGary M. Simoes .

We are trying to resurrect the Engine 6 Ladder 16 golf outing this year. We want to know if there are any retired or past members interested in this event. We are looking to golf Thursday October 11th at Juniata. I’ll post the price as soon as I know. Please reply if your interested. Thanks.
