We are now in our summer hours. The office is open Monday & Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. This is when tax work may be dropped off and completed tax returns picked up. The Governor has lifted the stay-at-home order for Delaware County effective June 5, 2020. This means that while there are still significant restrictions on our operation, we are now permitted to take appointments with clients on a strictly limited basis. Social distancing and facial coverings are re...quired. Out of an abundance of caution for our clients and staff, we will continue to complete the vast majority of tax returns on a drop-off basis for the brief remainder of this tax filing season. We strongly encourage clients to drop off tax paperwork at our office. If the office is closed, use the mail slot in the office door. We will complete tax returns as received and contact you when they are ready to pick up. Tax paperwork may also be mailed or emailed/scanned to your accountant. Clients with more complicated tax situations can be offered appointment times on a strictly limited basis. The governor has indefinitely extended the shut-down order for Delaware County, so our hours currently remain limited to drop-off and pick-up only. We are following all social distancing and facial covering requirements. We are open on Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to allow customers to drop-off tax paperwork or pick-up completed tax returns. Unfortunately, we will not schedule any appointments until permitted to do so by the State. A final update to our tax season business hours in response to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak: We have now cancelled all client appointments through April 15, what would have been in a normal year the final day of tax filing season. This effectively means we will not hold any further face-to-face appointments through the end of April at the earliest. We continue to encourage all clients to drop-off their tax paperwork so we can get your taxes prepared - and your tax refund... to you - as quickly as possible. We are open Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - noon. Drop off your tax paperwork then and we’ll have your return completed within 2-4 days. We’ll contact you when your work is complete and you may pick up your completed work during those same hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. - noon. You can also always drop off your work at any time by placing your tax papers through the mail slot in our office door. Tax work may also be mailed to us. Our current plan for those unable or unwilling to get their work to us now is to hold limited hours for appointments hopefully beginning sometime in May. That schedule is completely dependent on how Coronavirus restrictions proceed and are ultimately lifted. We can’t make any guarantees at this time. This has been a challenging tax season to say the least. We appreciate your patience as we cope with ever changing restrictions and take all prudent steps as an essential business to keep our clients and our staff safe and healthy. As a result of the ongoing restrictions on businesses due to the Corona Virus outbreak, we have further revised our business hours. All sit-down appointments are cancelled through Monday, April 6. If permitted, we will resume appointments on that day. But we expect further restrictions to be put in place that may force us to cancel appointments beyond April 6. UPDATE ON BUSINESS CLOSURE Friday evening we learned that tax preparation firms were added by the Governor to the list of businesses permitted to remain open during the PA corona virus mandatory business shutdown. So the mandatory business shutdown for Diamond Accounting Services lasted about 24 hours, though we lost three days worth of work as a result. We will reopen on Monday morning, March 23 at 8:30. Client appointments will begin once again as scheduled on Tuesday, Ma...rch 24. Clients who missed appointments on Saturday, March 21 or Monday, March 23 have the option of rescheduling their appointment later in the season or dropping off their work. We apologize for the inconvenience this on-again/off-again shutdown created. It should be obvious that this is an extremely fluid situation and the rules change daily, if not hourly. Should there be another change, we will update our Facebook page, website and telephone message. Thanks for your understanding during this most unusual time.

Under order from the Governor of PA, Diamond Accounting Services is now under a mandatory business shutdown until further notice. We have no information about when our business will be permitted to reopen. All scheduled client appointments thru April 15 are now cancelled. During this shutdown we are accepting tax paperwork from our clients on a drop-off basis. Simply mail, scan or place your tax paperwork thru the mail slot in our office door and we’ll get your work comple...ted. Once we are permitted to reopen we’ll call you to pick up your completed work. We will contact clients who wish to reschedule an appointment once we reopen for business. IRS has extended the April 15 filing deadline by 90 days. Federal tax returns will now be due July 15. No interest or penalties will be due on returns filed by July 15. We expect state return deadlines will also be likewise extended. This is obviously a highly unusual situation and we’re doing our best to deal with information that changes daily. With the 2020 tax filing season now upon us, it’s also time to remind you about the scams that inevitably pop up at this time of the year. Criminals pose as IRS employees to try to separate you from your money, your identity - or both. Clients are reminded of these tell-tale signs that someone is trying to make you the victim of a tax scam: 1. A phone call claiming to be from the IRS threatening you with jail time unless you respond. IRS never initiates contact with a pho...ne call. A threat of jail time is never made over the phone. Should you get such a call, simply hang up. Offer no information. 2. A demand for immediate payment, often with a gift card or wire transfer from your bank. Any demand for payment from IRS comes in the form of a letter and gives you ample time to object. Again, any such demand for immediate payment should result in you terminating the contact. 3. An email claiming to be from IRS, usually demanding you click a link and surrender identity information or bank information. IRS does not email taxpayers. Don’t click on any links. Delete the email immediately. If you even suspect you might be the victim of an IRS scam, end the contact. Give us a call to discuss your suspicion so we can advise you BEFORE you become separated from your hard-earned money or have your identity stolen!

Tax filing season 2020 is now upon us! Our appointment desk is now open to take appointments to complete your 2019 income tax returns. Appointment desk hours are Monday - Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. If you call outside our appointment desk hours, or if we happen to be helping other clients when you call, please leave a message and we will return your call promptly. If you generally have us complete your tax work via mail, fax or scan there is no need to book an appo...intment. Just get your paperwork to us - completion generally takes 7-10 days. And remember you don’t need all your tax paperwork in-hand to schedule an appointment! We take appointments now for times all the way up until April 15. Clients who pay estimated tax payments are reminded that payment #3 is due on Monday, September 17. If you are subject to estimated payments, vouchers are included with your tax paperwork.
