The Santa run is cut short due to a working fire in Peach Bottom Twp

Today the Citizen’s Volunteer Fire Company would like to congratulate life member and past Captain Doug Schmidt on his retirement as a career Federal Fireman with the Department of Defense at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Doug has spent the last few years with us driving, continuing to fight fire, educate, mentor and has played a huge part in the up-keep of our apparatus and their preventative maintenance. We would all like to wish Doug a very happy and healthy retirement. Thanks for all you have done and continue to do. Thanks Neil Schmidt for the pics !! Yesterday during our Santa Run, Fawn Grove, along with Delta Cardiff, Whiteford, Airville and Norrisville were dispatched for a structure fire in Peach Bottom Twp. around 2:30, on Hollow Rd. between Graceton and Hushon. Chief 57-2 arrived to find a well involved single family home and announced the working fire. Units worked for approx. 2 hours extinguishing the fire and performing overhaul and salvage. The PA State Police Fire Marshal’s office of investigating the cause. Thank you Eureka Vol. Fire Co. of Stewartstown to covering us for the duration.

Station 56 just returned for the 56-08 box for a public service. Two dogs were trapped under a shed along with a Raccoon the dogs were chasing after. Crews used airbags to lift the shed to gain a visual on the dogs and raccoon. Then utilized a pressurized water fire extinguisher to push the dogs along with raccon out from under the shed. Lucky no dogs or the raccon were injured in result of the incident.
