Summertime is here! Don't forget to wear your sunscreen. Here are a few tips to pick the right one.

Ask a dermatologist: What sunscreen is best for children? It depends on age. Sunscreen is not generally recommended for use on children under 6 months of age. Instead, avoidance of sun exposure through shaded strollers, umbrellas, etc is best. Children 6 months and older should utilize sunscreen as part of their sun protection. SPF 30 or greater sunscreen should be applied 30 min before exposure, and reapplied every 2 hours or sooner if washed away. Also consid...er clothing that has SPF protection built in. Some parents are concerned about the chemical ingredients in sunscreen. There have been reports that certain chemical UV filters may act as hormones if absorbed in the body. While there is no known evidence of harm from these ingredients, many parents choose to avoid them and instead select a sunscreen that uses physical UV filters (look for titanium dioxide or zinc oxide).
