"The rest of the country is finding out something we’ve known for a while just how great the Schuylkill River Trail is. The trail was just named the third-best riverwalk in the country in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Contest." You can explore 75 miles of the trail in parts of Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester and Berks Counties.

A message from our board and president. #chestnuthillcommunity #chestnuthillpa #keepitonthehill #strongertogether The Chestnut Hill Community Association’s mission is to connect people, foster good will, and strengthen community ties. The funds raised by the Annual Appeal this year are more important to the ongoing operations of the CHCA than ever before and we are asking for your support.... Very few non-profit organizations can sustain themselves by membership fees alone. Funds raised by the Annual Appeal help cover the costs of the CHCA’s day to day operations, community projects, and events. In 2020, our board, small staff, and volunteers continued to work diligently and creatively to keep you informed, entertained, and connected as a community. The CHCA adapted and sponsored an outdoor, socially distanced dinner with local restaurants in late summer. We've held virtual events: a jazz evening, a lovely garden tour, a pumpkin carving contest, a holiday door decorating contest, and several other safe and fun activities for the community. The CHCA also honored area essential workers with the CHCA 2020 Annual Meritorious Award for all they have done and continue to do for the community at large. The CHCA is a Registered Community Organization (RCO) with the city of Philadelphia. As the convening RCO, the CHCA brings area organizations together to provide constituents with valued civic and social activities and information. The Development Review Committee, the Land Use Planning and Zoning, and the monthly board meetings are open to the public currently on Zoom. Our monthly e-news is emailed and posted online. You can also connect on Facebook and Instagram. Please be generous in your support of the Chestnut Hill Community Association’s Annual Appeal. The CHCA is a 501c3 organization. All contributions are tax deductible. We appreciate your consideration, and thank you. Stay safe and well. Kathi Clayton Board President

"When I was a little kid growing up in New York City, I used to play in a little copse of trees in Prospect Park and pretend I was in a forest. I love that Philadelphia is a big city that makes forest parks available to its city dwellers. I think it’s great that more people are enjoying the park these days, and I’m happy to help keep it a pleasant place for all."

"In these unprecedented times, community interaction and support are more important than ever. The Conservancy’s Fall brainstorming session is scheduled to take place virtually in November 2020. Do you have some ideas you would like to share for future programs? If so, why not let your creative ideas be heard? Interested parties can register for participation by emailing [email protected]. Alternatively, you can send in your program suggestions and ideas to the same email address either before the meeting or any time thereafter."

We are seeing a lot of large barn tables. Eucalyptus is used, as well as vines and greenery, McDevitt said. Branches against white marble or quartz gives it a woodsy look and gives people a feeling of more sustainability. You’re not spending money on something that’s going to die soon.

"Earlier this month Kay Henderson moved her online plant shop to a brick and mortar store. She'd outgrown her apartment, where she often had 300 plants each week. Henderson sells houseplants and plans to offer a variety of educational services at her Chestnut Hill shop, Sister Sunflower. Henderson developed her love for plants as a child, while helping her great grandmother care for hers."

"Such is the tale of Henrik Ibsen's Rosmersholm, penned in 1886, and presented as the second of four politically-themed offerings from Quintessence Theatre Group. Mt. Scheduled for presentation during the upcoming presidential election, Rosmersholm started streaming Monday, Oct. 19, and continues through Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m."

Night of Lights is a truly participatory, community-based event, offering visitors and long-time residents a free and accessible opportunity to discover the history of the neighborhood, while becoming active participants in the stories being told. From 7 pm to 10 pm, every evening from October 9-25, historical images and films from the Conservancy’s Archives are projected through storefront windows along Germantown Avenue, with neighboring historic buildings illuminated by colored lights."
