Dear Community, What does ART mean to you? Does it mean promoting small business and those affected by it? Or does it mean chastising those organizations who are going the extra mile to provide programming and ways for artisans and crafters to sell their items, since they have taken a devastating hit this year? ... I have recently seen negative posts that were insulting and powerfully negative about initiatives that are supporting artisans and crafters. There is a dynamic push within our community to Shop Local and support Small Businesses. During these uncertain times we need to help anyone we can if we have the means to do so. The Community Arts Center does that in numerous ways... -Only a percentage from the items sold at Holly Bazaar benefits the Community Arts Center; it’s about the artists making money. -Classes and workshops were chosen and planned to be fun and creative outlets to circumvent the significant affects that isolation has caused on many. -Free online videos of art projects with very cost effective supplies and pay the artists/instructors participating. Thus giving the community something to enjoy as an individual, a child or a family. These are just some of the ambitions of the Community Arts Center of Cambria County. Right now, our ambition and business model has drastically changed as an organization; social profit, your experience is our first goal! Over 75 artists are able to be part of the Holly Bazaar and numerous others have been teaching classes and workshops. There has been so much separation... unite and show the love of the season. As I sit here watching the entire Broadway community and nation supporting artists, we need to remember art doesn’t just appear; it’s created, it’s inspiring, it’s positive, and it has spawned some of the greatest work the world has ever seen from dire moments in human history. We must all stand up for our community and we must all stand up to be ambassadors for the arts! It helps shape our humanity and make us whole. Support the arts. Support artists. Support the cultural institutions that give these artists a home. #keepingtheartsalive
