The summer internship series continues... This week, Leslie Goloh, our secretary and a junior computer science major, talks about her internship with the Educational Technology Services department in Bryn Mawr College. "This past summer, I worked with the Educational Technology Services (ETS) division of LITS here in Bryn Mawr. Most of my work was centered on creating self-help materials (video tutorials and tech documentations) on BIONIC and the updated version of Moodle, f...or faculty and students. I also worked with other ETS staff to develop the Digital Competencies Initiative. This initiative is aimed at helping us (Bryn Mawr Students) develop, identify, and articulate our digital capabilities. In this regard, my task was to research and compile various resources to aid students on their quest to becoming digitally competent, as well as to provide ideas and feedback on the structure of the initiative. I really enjoyed the flexibility of the hours as well as the atmosphere and community of people I worked with. While I learned a host of things from this internship, the biggest takeaway was that the little things matter and eventually add up to become big strengths and therefore, should not be taken for granted."

Starting this week, we will be featuring members on their summer internships. To kick off the first week, our project manager Justine, who is a sophomore major in Physics, talks about her experience working for a national lab in New Mexico. "Over the summer, I did R&D (research and development) in the Accelerator Division at Los Alamos National Lab. I worked with particle physics to design the geometry of an electron gun and did mechanical engineering for the support system and connection points of the accelerator. I did a lot of on-the-job learning, since particle physics is not a branch of physics often covered in low-level physics classes, but I enjoyed getting a chance to learn about a whole new branch of physics."

Meet the officers who helped organize our first Engineering Faire! We had VR, rocket model launching, oobleck, drones, and other booths as a demo of all the work we have done this semester.
