Blandon Fire Department

Earlier this morning Ladder 12 assisted Station 66 with a structure fire in the 4800 block of 8th Ave in Temple. While returning, the Ladder handled a motor vehicle accident at Holiday Ln and Blandon Meadows Parkway. There were no reported injuries at either incident.

Yesterday our company passed state inspection to renew our QRS license for 3 more years. A Quick Response Service (QRS) is a licensed EMS agency that responds to medical emergencies with trained EMS personnel when the ambulance that was dispatched to the call has an extended ETA. We also respond to medical calls when an ambulance crew requests addition assistance. In the event patient care requires both of the ambulance’s providers during transport, our personnel have obtained their EMS Vehicle Operator endorsements which allows them to drive the ambulance to the hospital for the providers on board. While this QRS license is not required for fire companies, we have taken these extra steps to ensure we are providing our citizens with the best service possible. Thank you for your support!

Monday night Engine’s 12 and 13 were dispatched to the area of 3011 Pricetown Rd in Alsace Township for a vehicle fire. Chief 12 arrived with a fully involved pick up truck. Engine 12 arrived and made fire attack while Engine 13 was unable to make it up the hill due to road conditions.

Crews responded to assist Kutztown Fire Company with a dwelling fire this afternoon. Originally we responded as the RIT company but our members were put to work due to low manpower on scene. The first photo is from WFMZ.

2020 was quite a different year, on many levels, with many obstacles to overcome. This would also end up being one of the busiest years we have seen at the Blandon Fire Company. Our volunteers ran 721 calls with 30 of them being working structure fires. We also ran RIT on 43 structure fire dispatches and 4 motor vehicle accident involving extrication. We are proud to serve our community and are always looking for new volunteers. We strive to give you the best service and thank you for your continued support.
