With the Asian Giant Hornet in the news lately, we would like to remind you that Penn State Extension is here as a resource to help you identify the insects in ...your backyard. Asian Giant Hornets are not known to occur outside of Washington state and Vancouver Island, and are not present in Pennsylvania. The two most commonly confused wasp species in Pennsylvania are European hornets, and cicada killers. With that being said, if you think you have one, please contact us to help identify the insect.
