Brady's Run Ice Arena 05.01.2021

January 7, 2021 RE: Snow Shovel Riding Contest Cancelled All,... It is with great disappointment that the Beaver County Recreation Department announces the cancellation of the 2021 Snow Shovel Riding Contest to be held at Old Economy Park. The Snow Shovel Riding Contest is an event that brings community members together and has become a part of many family’s winter traditions. With the current restrictions put in place, the event cannot fully go on to its full potential. Our continued goal remains the safety of all participants and staff. We appreciated everyone’s understanding and look forward to seeing everyone at the 2022 Snow Shovel Riding Contest. If you have any questions, please contact our office. Thank You, Beaver County Recreation Department

Christmas Tree Recycling With the holiday season upon us, Beaver County Department of Sustainability and Waste Management would like to encourage everyone to give one more gift, a gift to Mother Nature, by recycling your live Christmas tree. The live Christmas Tree Recycling program is a service provided free of charge to all Beaver County residents. After the festivities are finished, you can bring your tree to the Beaver County Recycling Center in Brady’s Run Park. Plac...e the live Christmas Tree in the compost bin. Tree-cycling is truly giving a gift back to the community. Proper disposal of a live tree is beneficial to the environment. When live trees are thrown away with the garbage, space in a landfill is needlessly consumed. Recycling your Christmas tree returns it to nature. The trees will be chipped and made into useful compost that is used to plant community gardens, nourish valuable farm land, and provide high quality soil to many individuals.

The Dept. of Public Works (DPW) will be working on a section of the creek side Gabion Basket wall in the walking loop at Brady's Run Park. DPW crews will be barricading approximately 100 feet of the walking loop in order to conduct their work. This work may start as early as this afternoon!

ANNOUNCEMENT Starting on Friday, May 22, as the county moves into the "yellow" phase of reopening, a number of park amenities will reopen to the public. Below is an example of the new signage that you will see throughout the parks. It outline basic protocols and what will be open and closed. Only shelters will be able to be rented and will be limited to events of 25 people or less. Interested parties need to contact 724-770-2060 to find out availability. Leave a message... and we will return the calls in the order received. It is important that we all work to follow what we've been practicing for the last few months. Especially being conscious of 6 ft. social distancing recommendation. Note: Brush Creek Park will remain closed due to the construction work. We ask for a little more patience as we are closing in on its completion. Have a great holiday weekend.

2020 SEASON CANCELLED Due to the COVID-19 virus and the unique challenges it presents that the Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to keep the pool at Old Economy Park closed for the 2020 season. The complications presented in prevention, hiring, staffing and managing, along with the ethical and legal concerns involved in the opening of a large public pool and locker rooms all played a factor in this decision. Thank you very much for your past support and we look forward to seeing you back in 2021.
