Fireworks may be fun for you and your family, but they are not fun for everyone. We ask you to be considerate of your neighbors and not use fireworks within cit...y limits. The law states that consumer fireworks cannot be set off in public parks or within 150 feet of a structure. Setting off Display Fireworks within City limits is illegal without a permit. These are extremely dangerous. Professionals must apply for a permit from the municipality where the display is to be held. Our Erie Police Department will answer fireworks calls and enforce the law. The ordinances state that for fireworks being shot off closer than 150 feet from a structure, you can receive a $100.00 fine plus an additional fine for violating the city noise ordinance, which can cost you anywhere from $300 to $1,000.
