Got snow?!? Winter is often a time to catch up on equipment repairs and shop or barn projects. Here are a few do-it-yourself, low cost ways to improve accessibility: Improve Shop Lighting: Proper shop & barn lighting is important, especially for those with low vision: - Add more light fixtures if able - Clean current light fixtures... - Replace old bulbs to improve brightness & quality - Utilize portable work lights Remove Trip Hazards: Tidy up the shop or barn: - Sweep the floor - Pick-up objects to reduce trip hazards & improve accessibility - Keep doorways and workspaces free of clutter - Utilize retractable extension cord reels to keep cords tidy Prevent Slips and Falls: Keeping the floor clean & free of oil spills is the best place to start: - Use anti-slip tape on stairs, ramps, & slippery flooring - Keep floors dry to prevent ice build-up - Utilize a boot scraper brush before entering barn or shop - helps prevent wet floors inside from snow or mud Contact AgrAbility PA to learn how we work with farmers & ag workers with a disability or long-term health condition. https://bit.ly/3nrk5Po
