Our annual Fund Drive mailer will begin hitting the mailboxes of township residents and property owners today. When reviewing our letter, we ask that you take a little extra time and consider giving some time back to your community and volunteering. One hour of your time once a month would mean the world to us. We are in search of new members 14 years of age and older, men and women. You don’t need to fight fires to make a difference and all necessary training is provided! We would also like to thank everyone for their help and continued contributions to support the fire and rescue services our volunteers proudly provide to the community.

The second round of winter weather is quickly moving into our area and the roadways are again becoming snow covered. Please stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. Firefighters from Jefferson Township and many other agencies responded to this accident this morning on the Interstate. We remind everyone to please try and note the actual location of an accident you see and relay this to 911 Dispatchers. Often times you may be several miles from a scene you drive by once your call to 911 is answered and providing the incorrect location could delay emergency personnel from reaching the scene timely.

Roadway Conditions have turned hazardous this evening Please use caution when traveling and allow extra time to get to your destination safely. The roadways may appear to be just snow covered but with this mornings rain and the rapid drop in temperatures today, under the snow roadways are very slick in many areas. Salt that is being applied to the roadways will be less effective at melting the ice due to the current cold temperatures near 15 degrees. Emergency service personnel responded to the scene of a rollover accident at the intersection of Archbald Mountain Road and Living Waters Road this evening. Luckily the occupants where able to walk away.
